"DIM-WYT"

Paul H. Naden
CPA, JD

Paul coined this paradoxical acronym to help people remember important keys to effective communication at business and family meetings. It stands for:

DON'T INTERRUPT ME -- WAIT YOUR TURN

Sounds simple, doesn't it? But how many meetings are undermined when participants cut one another off mid-sentence or a small group begins to dominate discussion or side conversations distract from the main focus. People interrupt for a variety of reasons. Whether they are impolite, disrespectful or merely enthusiastic, the results are the same: frustrations abound and the purpose of the meeting is sidetracked if not entirely derailed.

WAIT YOUR TURN indicates that everyone will have a chance to speak -- in fact, everyone at the meeting is encouraged to participate. People who are normally reticent can have their say and everyone will stay focused on the issue under discussion. All attendees will be asked for feedback.

Features:

  • Specific guidelines for running effective meetings
  • Practice in "playing by the rules"
  • Techniques for changing attitudes and long-term behaviors

Benefits:

  • Meetings are productive and focused
  • Participant involvement and interest are raised
  • Energy increases, frustration decreases
  • More is accomplished in a shorter period of time
During his 30 year tenure as Managing/Senior Partner of the Naden/Lean Group, Paul sat through his share of non-productive meetings. From this painful experience, he developed specific techniques for managing meetings that are at once simple and radical.

Paul is a dynamic speaker with a style all his own. Using straight talk spiced with humor and irony, he involves and instructs his audience. He combines professional knowledge and experience with a love of performing.
